On Scars, Healing, and Hope: Editor’s Note, Spring 2010
For me, slapping a happy smile on my face rots my soul. Being truthful fills and heals it….This I know. If a wound isn’t properly cleaned, given air to breathe, and appropriate care, it infects everything. Yes, it’s a simple metaphor, but I’ve seen firsthand what happens when those wounds are shut up and hidden. They fester and stink. They moved me to rage so fierce it frightened me into truth.
